The U-16 Basketball team beat Ballinteer Community School in the final of the competition in the Oblate Hall in Inchicore, Wednesday, 14th December. Cheered on by a busload of supporters Rosmini started well, opening a four-point lead with baskets scored by Gareth Breslin. The Rosmini defence was solid to begin with but Ballinteer gained a foothold towards the end of the quarter. Rosmini led 10 -8 at the break.
Baskets from Breslin, J. J. Jiminez, Cian Coleman and Ethan Hackett Kissane in the second quarter kept a gap between the teams with Rosmini extending their lead to 9 points by half time. Our defence was solid from this point on with Luca Maul putting in some important interceptions which landed him in foul trouble. A very solid defence led by Cian Coleman limited Balinteer to 2 points in the 3rd quarter. Jamie Murphy made some outstanding rebounds at both ends of the court to ensure valuable possession of the ball at this crucial stage of the game. J. J. Jiminez got another superb basket from a fast break.
Our supporters were absolutely brilliant creating a fabulous atmosphere on the sideline.
