On Tuesday 4th April 2017, Transition Year students embarked on a walking retreat to the Botanic Gardens in Glasnevin.
A short talk exploring how we are connected to plants from a tour guide helped to kick off a lovely morning spent in the beautiful surroundings of the Botanic Gardens. Students used wisdom to explore how they would respond differently to past mistakes around the statue of philosopher Socrates. They turned to Jesus for guidance in facing the hurdles of life amongst the wilderness of the Native Beds. After an exploration of what makes them truly unique around one of the most original structures in the gardens known as the Chain Tent, students were led on a guided meditation in the Rose Garden.
A prayer service reflecting on students’ goals for the future in bringing about positive change, in not only their lives but also the lives of others, had taken place in All Hallows in the afternoon. The choir under the careful guidance of Ms Mullen truly added to the special occasion.
