Our Transition Year students spent Friday morning (19 October 2018) in Dublin City University learning the practical skills of shooting and editing a movie. They were divided into groups and had to script, film and edit a 1 minute movie with the theme of 'suspense'. The students were praised for the uniqueness of their ideas and the correct use of their newly acquired skills. Thanks to Darran Heaney of the DCU Access programme and the final year media students. This was an important part of the Media Studies aim of producing a 3 minute movie to be entered into the DCU Access competition in the new year.
Rosmini is delighted to be involved in the DCU UniTY programme. UniTY is a skills based programme specifically aimed at Transition Year students. It has been designed to increase student engagement in education and raise motivation and career aspirations and broaden students' world view. The curriculum is made up of Multimedia & Social Innovation, Smart Skills, Employability & Leadership and Student Empowerment. Other classes benefit through Maths quizzes, "Junior Discover" pathways to third level, DCU "Summer Scholars" programme, rugby and soccer blitzes.
